WELCOME
I'm an author, a shamanic practitioner, crafter, lover of animals, and homesick Alaskan.
Look below for info on my novel in progress:
A Selkie Story.
I've long been fascinated by the folklore of the selkies--seal folk who can shed their skins and become human, and have collected many of the old, old tales.
Check the blog for writing updates and old folktales about selkies, and sign up for my newsletter for occasional special offers.

Work in Progress:
A Selkie Story
A Selkie Story is a grounded retelling of folklore about the selkies—
who are both seal and human.
Gordon's wife Meryl has been keeping a secret. When she says she’s a selkie, and she’s going to Alaska to find her long-lost sealskin, he fears for her sanity and sacrifices his engineering career to keep her safe. His rational mind finally embraces Meryl’s truth, but learns that if she finds her skin, she might put it on and return to the sea. In Meryl’s childhood home on a remote island in Alaska’s Prince William sound, Gordon discovers the community and extended family he’d longed for as an orphan growing up in cold foster care.
Then all that he loves is threatened by the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill.

The Ringwomen
On a planet with three moons and seven rings, some women can channel the mysterious power of the rings. Lia feels the power of the rings rising in her body. But the practice is banned in her home region. With her trained hawk as her only companion, she must undertake an arduous journey through the Shadowlands to find the remaining Ringwomen.
Winter Sleep
Humans hibernate through the long winters on their planet, until they are endangered by new arrivals.

What do you get when you mix the jaded and irrepressible humor of a wild lesbian linguist and the magical sensibilities of a radical lesbian witch who are making it in a strange world called Lincoln, Nebraska?
What you get is a pantheon of 'new' goddesses who reveal themselves in a spirit of love and fun to these two visionaries! The goddesses range from the practical Asphalta, the Goddess of Roads whose influence can materialize a parking space, to the newly named Goddess of utmost glee and laughter, Hilaria, who certainly gave her blessing to the creation of this wildly funny book. This collection is one way to radical transformation, with much love a laughter in the process.

Found Goddesses "gives the lie to all who say that feminists have no sense of humor."

Found Goddesses is wonderful! All of it's funny and some of it's inspired. I've had more fun reading it than any book in the last two years.
